Position Overview
As a
Disability Management Advisor, you will be responsible for the management of disability claims, promote
occupational health, and manage the disability management process at Kidd
Operations. The processing and management of claims for disability benefits
will be done in accordance with the terms and provisions of the applicable
group insurance contract (WID, LTD) and WSIB Act whichever is applicable.
The
Disability Management Advisor’s responsibilities will include, but are not
limited to the
following:
•Analyze claims, incidents and
investigation data to define trends and prepare reports. Provides reports,
statistics, technical guidance and expertise on claims management trends for
departments and management team.
•Coordinate return to work and minimize
lost time, while ensuring compliance with Worker’s Safety and Insurance Board
policies/legislation, Weekly Indemnity and Long Term carrier’s contracts.
•Prepare and
submit claims to appropriate agencies for claims assessment.
•Prepare initial objection documentation
where required for WSIB.
•Ensure that third parties are working
within accordance of the terms and provisions of the applicable group insurance
contracts (WID, LTD) or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
•Utilize proactive
methods to address any barriers throughout the return to work process,
including early intervention approaches or when claim progress or recovery
delays.
•Recommend and coordinate appropriate
assessments and evaluations, including Physical Demands Analyses, Functional
Capacity Evaluations, and Independent Medical Examinations.
•Works with claimants, departments, unions
members to determine modified work opportunities respecting collective
agreements where applicable.
•Maintain accurate documentation, records
and sequence of events throughout the life of claim. Track and Monitor ongoing
claims for both occupational and non-occupational claims.
Qualifications
The
ideal candidate will possess:
•University or college degree related to Human Resources, Nursing or Occupational Health and Safety;
experience in Ergonomics would be considered an asset.
•5-7 years
in disability management, including Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims
and return to work programs experience.
•Knowledge of the Workplace Safety and
Insurance Act and Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario
Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and Personal Health Information
Protection Act governing workers.
•Ability to function effectively under
pressure, while maintaining excellent time management, follow through and
organizational skills.
