SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Mushkegowuk Health Department is looking for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who will meet the unique health needs of our Indigenous population. While following a model of wholistic health and wellbeing that supports Indigenous health, the NP will provide Primary Care such as health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative services. The NP will also work closely with our multidisciplinary team and support and respect the Mushkegowuk culture, traditions, teachings, and healing practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate
• A minimum of three to five years of nursing experience required with one to two years experience working in a northern rural setting
• Current unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Membership with Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario (NPAO)
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Experience with Indigenous populations and Indigenous issues
• Knowledge of the Mushkegowuk history, culture, teachings, protocols, and ceremonies
• Must have excellent computer and technology skills and knowledge of PS suites, MS work and teams
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Physical ability to perform job duties
• Ability to speak Cree considered an asset
• Valid driver's license
• Satisfactory CPIC and Vulnerable Sectors check
• Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination required
