Timmins & Area Women in Crisis (TAWC) is a dynamic, community-based feminist organization, which provides services on intimate partner abuse and sexual violence to women and their children in the Timmins area. TAWC works within an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. The agency administers a sexual assault centre, emergency shelter as well as second stage housing to abused women and their children.
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated woman to join our team in the capacity of Committee Coordinator for the following committees: Regional Anti-Human Trafficking Committee and Coalition Against Gender Based Violence Committee.
The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field
- Understanding of the social service sector and provision of non-profit service to the community- Proven dedication to violence against women work/ women’s issues
- Demonstrated commitment towards the well-being of women and children
- Experience working with issues of marginalization and social justice
- Ability to work within an anti-oppression framework and demonstrate cultural / linguistic sensitivity
- Strong coordination and organization and communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Proficient in the group facilitation
- Ability to manage technical resources
- Be highly motivated and organized in project management
- Demonstrate solid judgment and common sense
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop solid working relationships with local organizations/community agencies
- Provide administrative support to the regional committee such as minutes, ministry reporting, statistics, facilitation of meetings, etc.
- Oversee the general financial affairs of the regional committee
- Oversee public education resources and activities of the regional committee
- Chair and the coordinator are the designated media contacts for related regional committee activities
- Develop and maintain contacts with key people in community agencies offering services to individuals locally, regionally, provincially and nationally
- Identify and comprehend the diverse obstacles which prevent individuals from accessing services
- Work efficiently with Timmins’ community agencies and resources
- Actively listen to input from the diverse regional committee members, show an open spirit and respect for each agencies’ mandate and intervention modelTAWC has a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that requires individuals to take part in COVID-19 vaccination programs recommended byPublic Health, unless they are approved for a medical or human rights accommodation from TAWC. Compliance with this policy is mandatory for this position.
Hours of Work: 14-21 hours per week
