Northern Policy Institute (NPI) is seeking two (2) full-time Summer Data Analysts for a 16 week placement with a host organization in Timmins. While analysts with particular expertise are most welcome, an inter-disciplinary approach and the capacity to work across subject areas is expected and required.
The focus of these placements will be to update NPI’s internal data catalogue and our online communityaccounts.ca data portal. This will involve collecting, compiling and analyzing data on Northern Ontario’s demographics, Indigenous Peoples, communities, the economy, infrastructure and the environment. A special effort will also be made to explore francophone, rural, remote and newcomer population trends.
Knowledge of and experience with private and public data sets is essential as are skills and experience with data presentation and analysis using tools like Excel, SPSS or Stata. University or college students with some practical experience are preferred. Bilingualism would be an advantage. Multilingualism, or a special knowledge of Northern Ontario would also be assets.
