Exploration Geologist – Regional Exploration
Porcupine Mine – Timmins, ON
Generation of exploration targets/concepts/exploration models.
Design holes, provide drillers with layouts. Visit drill sites to spot holes; assess safety, environmental & technical requirements.
Track drilling progress on daily basis. Visit rigs, inspect for adherence to PGM safety-environmental guidelines.
Logging of diamond drill core. Selection of sample sites, ongoing implementation of the QA-QC programs.
Supervision of any sample collection, storage, shipment performed by technicians
Utilize industry-standard software to compile and interpret 3-D location, geologic & assay results. Timely plotting of data.
Inform supervisor of new assay results, geologic opinions/ideas, etc.
Assist with resource estimations.
Monitor technician’s/assistant’s daily activities, job quality. Ensure QA-QC guidelines are met. Promote open, frank communication. Encourage improvement in sampling, core-handling, storage process.
Ability to spot, and mitigate, any safety hazards - present or implied
Completion of a 4-year B.Sc. (Geology) degree program
Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a certified P.Geo. designation.
3 years of gold exploration experience, of which 1-2 should be within a mining environment.
Good interpersonal and communication skills. Innovative and a proven ability to work with others.
Computer literacy is required. Working knowledge of the MS software suite/package, industry-standard digital logging, and dbase entry.
Ability to communicate clearly & confidently, on a timely basis.
Industry-standard training in First-Aid, WHIMIS, an asset.
