Health & Safety Coordinator

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the camp environment.
• Ensure all workers have site specific orientations
• Regularly monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors by conducting formal and informal site inspections and institute corrective actions if required
• Ensure completion of regular site inspection reports from site supervisors are completed on a weekly basis.
• Update the safety data sheet/binder as required
• Assist with incident/injury/near-miss reporting and complete investigations with corrective actions
• Assist/conduct field safety meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety informational awareness
• Review task cards submitted by Supervisors
• Assist project manager with safety compliance
• Educate workers and supervisors in health and safety policies and procedures
• Continuously audit and monitor the worksite

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in Health and Safety within the construction industry.
• Valid Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Working knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Regulations
• Willing to work 10-to-12-hour days, when required
• Open to travelling to mine sites when required
• Safety conscious and attentive to the working environment they are in.
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
• Incident investigation training/experience is considered an asset
