MEUNIER CARRIER LAWYERS is expanding its team and the reputable boutique litigation firm serving clients across Ontario is looking to hire a candidate for the position of Receptionist/Legal Assistant.
The firm provides a collaborative and friendly environment with the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of skilled lawyers and support staff on interesting and sophisticated civil & commercial litigation, employment law, disability cases, family law, related matters and Estate Litigation. The firm provides ongoing training after being hired and subsequently through weekly huddles, lunch and learn sessions and bi-annual full day educational programs and office retreats.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in greeting clients and accepting deliveries;
• Handling incoming calls and operating a switchboard;
• Maintaining office directories;
• Assisting other administrative staff with overflow work, including word processing, data entry, opening & closing client files and assisting with obtaining client photo identification as required by the Law Society and seeking and obtaining client records from third parties;
• Interacting with clients, insurance company representatives, health practitioners and other lawyers and legal assistants to schedule appointments, Examinations, etc. and obtaining updates & information;
• Facilitating document and disclosure requests;
• Drafting memos and pleadings, scanning, photocopying and binding materials, etc.;
• Drafting correspondence, legal documents and memoranda, and complete conflict reports with direction from lawyers;
• Preparing, compiling, serving and filing court documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure, Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule, Family Law Rules and practice directions;
• Entering dockets and processing accounts utilizing the firm's software.
Qualifications:
• Oral and written French and English language proficiency as well as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and LEAP Legal Software program competence are an asset;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as computer literacy;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying strict attention to detail;
• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.

Our firm offers competitive compensation, which is commensurate with experience.
This position also offers extended health benefits upon the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.
