The City of Timmins is currently seeking qualified casual employees to join our team on an as-needed basis. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified individuals with experience in various areas of construction and equipment operation. Hours of work will be provided on a call-in, as needed basis.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the Public Works Labourer will be expected to perform labourer tasks as well as operate machinery as assigned.
Duties
• Perform labourer work as assigned
• Independently operate various types of light and heavy-duty equipment as assigned.
• Complete internal orientation or limited job-specific training related to organization policies, procedures, or safety obligations.
• Ability to work shift work; nights, afternoons and weekends, including 12, 10, and 8-hour shifts.
Qualifications
• A DZ class licence or higher is required for dump truck and snow plow operations.
• Grade 12 education or equivalency.
• Demonstrated skills, knowledge and ability to operate multiple pieces of industry related equipment – qualification and relevant experience must be clearly outlined in one or more of the following areas: asphalt work, concrete work, dump truck operation, grader operation, loader operation, backhoe operation, and light tractor operation
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Good knowledge of the names and locations of City streets.
• Physical ability to perform medium to heavy category work.
• Clear Driver’s Abstract required.
