POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Youth Services and working directly with the Youth Department’s Regional Coordinators, the Youth Programmer will assist in the development, facilitation, and evaluation of youth programming within the Mushkegowuk territory. This will include working in partnership with front-line workers in each community to identify gaps in service delivery, while also establishing new networking partners to ensure a wrap-around approach to programming and/or other health services.
REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor of Social Work, Sports and Recreation, Indigenous Studies, or equivalent post-secondary diploma in a related field,
· Minimum of 3 years experience working with Indigenous youth,
· Must have sound knowledge of Mushkegowuk’s current social issues and the long-term effects multi-generational trauma.
· Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License.
· A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Check.
· Must have a strong understanding of Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.
· Mental health training and work experience will be considered a strong asset.
· Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other professional software programs.
· Cree language will be considered an asset.
· Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
· Must have excellent organizational skills.
· Must be willing to frequently travel to various Mushkegowuk communities.
