Shop Lead Hand - Automotive

The Bucket Shop is a Timmins, Ontario based mining equipment repair and manufacturing facility, with several departments including a mechanic shop that is commissioned to service, repair and maintain our fleet of 50+ vehicles and equipment.

We are seeking an experienced Shop Lead Hand to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our busy mechanic shop. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring a licensed mechanic to maintain our capacity for safety inspections. The successful candidate will closely with the Shop Foreman to keep the shop running smoothly, coordinating workflow and maintaining top-tier service and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and inspections on a wide range of vehicles.
• Help schedule and assign work, order parts, and monitor shop progress.
• Lead by example on the floor—supporting and guiding techs and apprentices.
•  Organize bay space and promote a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
•  Communicate between the shop floor and leadership to keep everyone aligned.

Qualifications:

• Must be a licensed journeyperson – Automotive or Heavy Duty (Required)
• 3-5 + years in a service shop, leadership experience considered an asset
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Experience with inventory management and scheduling.
• Comfortable with the use of computer systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient workplace.

Compensation structure to be negotiated dependent on skills and experience, with an hourly range between $38-$42/per hour.
