Job Summary

The Timmins Learning Centre is seeking a dynamic individual to oversee the delivery and growth of our children's programs, including our highly subscribed one-to-one tutoring.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Children’s Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring delivery of high-quality programming in a manner consistent with the vision, mission, and goals of the organization.
The Children’s Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating our children’s literacy programs. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for participants and tutors
• Developing literacy-based programming for children in grades 1-8, including choosing appropriate resources
• Monitoring program effectiveness and collecting data for reporting
• Managing scheduling, registration, and communications for all children's programs
• Assisting with the recruitment, training, and supervision of tutors
• Supporting tutors with program guidance to ensure alignment with the organization’s goals and quality standards, and providing one-to-one tutoring as needed
• Fostering partnerships with local schools, libraries, and community organizations
• Promoting and marketing children’s programs within the community
• Assisting with the development of funding proposals and participating in fundraising activities as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Work or a related field OR equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing or supervising staff and/or volunteers
• Experience working with children in an educational or community setting
• Experience with program planning, including budgeting, research, and resource development
• Strong oral/verbal and written communication skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media
• Familiarity with literacy development principles and practices is a strong asset
• Previous experience writing successful grants and funding proposals is a strong asset
• Fluency in both official languages (English and French) is an asset
• A clear Vulnerable Sector Check will be required upon hire
Compensation and Work Environment
The wage range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour. Benefits include two weeks of paid vacation, five days of paid personal days, paid time off from December 24 to January 1, and professional development opportunities.
Number of hours of work per week is flexible based on the successful candidate, but will generally range from 20 – 30 hours per week. The Children’s Program Coordinator may be required to work afternoons and evenings to accommodate program needs, with the occasional weekend for special community events.
