The Timmins Native Friendship Centre (TNFC) is an award-winning Friendship Centre in Ontario and Canada, and is the largest service provider for urban Indigenous people in Timmins. The TNFC provides services and programs to support the cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples and assist in their inclusion and participation in urban life. We strive to improve the quality of life for urban Indigenous peoples living in the Timmins area by providing intervention, direct services, advocacy and support in the areas of health, education, employment and training, culture, recreation and social services.
About the Position
The Finance Clerk provides essential administrative and financial support to accurate and compliant day-to-day financial operations. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role involves maintaining accounts payable/receivable, preparing reconciliations, supporting payroll, and assisting with budget preparation. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to Indigenous cultural values. Experience with accounting software and working in Indigenous or non-profit settings is an asset. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility, confidentiality, and a collaborative spirit.

REPORTING & RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Executive Director
This position supports all programs and collaborates with a number of staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain accurate financial records and correspondence.
• Administer payroll and ensure correct payment of benefits and allowances.
• Process accounts payable/receivable and submit invoices/payments in a timely manner.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, trial balance statements, and year-end adjustments.
• Assist in preparing annual and revised budgets.
• Establish and monitor office systems for accurate record-keeping.
• Ensure funding obligations are met and reports are completed on time.
• Provide administrative support to the Executive Director.
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with TNFC financial and employment policies.
• Collaborate with staff, board members, and external partners.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
• Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proficiency in Sage 50 Accounting and strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and payroll support.
• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
• Knowledge of Indigenous organizations, non-profit financial processes, or funder reporting requirements is an asset.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with TNFC programs and services.
• Ability to speak Cree and/or Ojibway is an asset.
• Ability to provide a clear Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Persons Check.
• Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory.
