The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

About the Opportunity
We are looking to hire a Health and Safety Trainer to join our Timmins West Mine in Timmins, ON., on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is 4x3, 10 hrs/day or 5x2, 8 hrs/day
Compensation: This position offers a salary range of $100,000 - $125,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
Vacancy Status: This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.
Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Coordinator, the Health and Safety Trainer will have the following responsibilities:
• Deliver site orientations for all new employees, contractors, and visitors as required.
• Educate employees and supervisors on the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) and actively promote shared responsibility for health and safety across the site.
• Develop, follow, and maintain refresher training schedules to ensure workers remain competent in the equipment, procedures, and tasks they regularly perform.
• Deliver and support training related to mine site safe operating procedures, including providing input into procedure reviews, updates, and improvements where required.
• Ensure Common Core training programs are properly structured, documented, and aligned with required specialty modules and accreditation requirements.
• Oversee and support applicable training programs, including Underground Basic Common Core, Underground Mining Specialties, Underground Supervisory Common Core, and other Common Core programs as required.
• Monitor, track, and report on training compliance for employees, contractors, and site-specific training programs.
• Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with all applicable record-keeping requirements.
• Schedule and coordinate external or internal training as required, including First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, and other regulatory or site-required training.
• Update training databases, matrices, and related systems to ensure training information remains current and accurate.
• Support the Health and Safety Department in promoting safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of the site training program.
• Comply with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and company requirements within the scope of the role.
• Other duties as assigned.
More About You
While our ideal candidate has the following qualifications, we welcome applicants who may not meet every criterion to apply.
The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:
• 5 to 7 years of related mining experience
• Train the Trainer Certification
• Strong communication and coaching skills
• The ability to communicate orally and written with all levels of the organization
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training requirements, schedules and priorities.
• Strong computer skills, including the ability to maintain training records, update databases, and work with common Microsoft Office programs (Word, PPT, Excel, etc.).
• Recognized formal safety certification would be considered an asset
Overall, you are a motivated team player who demonstrates compliance with all health and safety regulations.
