About the Organization

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.

The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

Mine Engineering Co-Op Students – Four Positions

We are seeking 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Mine Engineering Co-Op Students to support the Engineering departments at our Timmins West Mine and Bell Creek Mine sites in Timmins, Ontario.

Please note: 16 month Co-op terms are preferred but 8 and 12 month terms will also be considered.

Responsibilities of the Mine Engineering Student include:

·         Assist the planning, ventilation and surveying personnel in their day-to-day activities

·         Work both on surface and in underground environments

·         Data entry, filing, and excellent computer skills will be required.

·         You will be required to work with Deswik, Ventsim, and Microsoft Office.

What you will gain:

·         Hands-on underground experience – surveying, ventilation

·         Training to work safely in an underground environment

·         On site Deswik training

·         Exposure to working at a mining operation in a fast paced, dynamic environment

·         Working with an experienced engineering team to learn from

·         Ontario Basic Underground Common Core training

Students must be currently enrolled in a mineral/mining engineering program to be eligible and planning to return to school after the Co-op. Proof of eligibility is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate Lake Shore Gold’s core values in Safety Health and the Environment and will meet the requirements of its Code of Conduct.

Students must have access to a vehicle or arrange car-pooling as public transportation is not available. Company provided living arrangements are available. The placements will run from May 2026 to August 2027.
