Duties
The Community Worker will assist with program planning and delivery for our Good Food Box, Good Food Market, Collective Cooking and Community Gardens programs.
The Community Worker will help with:
- Coordinating the Good Food Box program and assisting with packing and delivering boxes on a monthly basis
- Setting up weekly Good Food Markets and assisting customers with their produce purchases
- Assist in Collective Cooking workshops
- Delivering program-based surveys and collecting client stories
- Attending the weekly Urban Park Market to promote ACT programs
- Maintaining the Community Garden sites by helping to repair, build, and install garden plots, and tending to charity plots to grow food for emergency food and shelter providers
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Interests and Career Goals
The Youth Community Worker should be someone who has a strong interest in social justice, advocacy work, and/or community development. The candidate will love working outdoors and must be someone who excels at working as a team and engaging with others. Students or graduates of social work, social service work, community development, or environmental studies are strongly encouraged to apply.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong teamwork ethic; excellent computer skills;
- exceptional written and oral communication skills; English/French bilingualism is an asset;
- ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Eligibility: Must be between the ages of 15 and 30; a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred; and legally entitled to work in Ontario.
Salary and Work Schedule
This is a full-time (35 hours/week), 8-week contract at $17.20/hour. Start date is flexible.
