Position: Education Program Assistant
Location: Timmins, ON
Classification: Full-time, summer contract
Start date: Anticipated start date July 28, 2025
Job Summary

The Timmins Learning Centre is seeking a motivated and responsible individual to join our team as an Education Program Assistant for the summer. This is a great opportunity for individuals considering careers in education, social services, or community work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Children’s Program Coordinator, the Education Program Assistant will support the planning and delivery of children’s programs at the Timmins Learning Centre.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with developing literacy-based programming for children in grades 1-8, including researching appropriate resource·
- Preparing and organizing program materials and supplies
- · Assisting with attendance, scheduling, and registration tasks
- · Supporting the promotion and and marketing children’s programs within the community
- · Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
· Experience working with children in an educational or community setting
· Strong oral/verbal and written communication skills
· Effective time management and organizational skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media
· Fluency in both official languages (English and French) is an asset
· A clear Vulnerable Sector Check will be required upon hire
Candidate Eligibility Criteria
· Candidate must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
· Candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*
· Candidate must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
*International students are not eligible participants.

Compensation and Work Environment
The wage for this position is $17.20 per hour for 35 hours per week, plus 4% vacation pay.
