Personal Support Worker - Nephrology

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Dialysis Assistant provides support in the provision of non-nursing duties in the Hemodialysis Unit. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must possess a Secondary School Diploma
  • Must be a graduate from a recognized accredited College of Applied Arts and Technology with a Personal Support Worker 1 year Certificate
  • Current BCLS/First Aid
  • Must be able to demonstrate compassion, empathy and understanding for patients
  • Possess the ability to develop and acquire the technical and practical skills required in this position
  • Must be well organized and able to deal effectively with the stress of an active unit.
  • Computer skills would be an asset.
  • Must be willing to participate positively in quality improvement opportunities.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Employment history that demonstrates regular attendance at work
  • Self-directed in performing position responsibilities
  • Able to follow instructions and cope with interruptions.
  • Able to meet physical demands of the position (heavy lifting, pushing and pulling equipment)
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development.

Compensation and Benefits 

·       Starting salary of $30.11/hour; $58,714.50/year (As per Step 1 of the STW collective agreement.)

·       Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
