Position Summary
Reporting to the Airfield Maintenance Foreman, the Airfield Maintenance Technician must perform the duties as noted below.
Duties
- Operate heavy, medium and small equipment for the removal of snow and slush from miscellaneous airport surfaces; ice control on roads, parking and service areas to keep surfaces in safe usable condition for vehicles, pedestrians, and aircraft
- Operate mobile and towed equipment for the winter and summer maintenance of grounds and repair programs;
- Carry out maintenance programs and airfield maintenance services
- Keep and maintain records and reports
- Assist in assuring fellow staff members are safety conscious and that work practices, tools and equipment are free of potential hazards
- Participate in a safety training program as required
- Participate in the Airport Safety Management System and Airport Security Awareness Program
- Use chainsaws, landscaping equipment and various hand and power tools
- Assist with emergency response and special events
- Participate in training programs
- Perform airfield/runway inspections as well as wildlife inspections and control
- Other assigned duties
Qualifications
- Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, Class DZ
- Ability to obtain a Restricted Radio Operator’s Certificate/ Aeronautical within 30 days of employment
- Previous experience with Airside Vehicle Operations is an asset
- Ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (on-site training) required within 30 days of employment
- First Aid / CPR and WHMIS Certification an asset
- Maintains comprehensive and current knowledge of applicable Acts and WHMIS
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Current and clear Criminal Record Check
- Please be advised that the Timmins Airport operates seven days per week and therefore variable shift and/or mandatory weekend work may be required
