Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the Public Works Labourer will be expected to perform labourer tasks as well as operate machinery as assigned. The seasonal labourer position will have a focus on removal of litter, waste and debris throughout the City.
Duties
• Perform labourer work as assigned with a focus on collection of litter, waste and debris which includes sharps collection, encampment removals and site clean-up.
• Train on and operate various types of light and heavy-duty equipment as assigned.
• Ability to work shift work; nights, afternoons and weekends, including 12, 10, and 8-hour shifts.
Qualifications
• Applicants must possess at minimum a valid class G Ontario Driver’s License, and be able to obtain their Class DZ within 4 months of hire.
• Grade 12 education or equivalency.
• Demonstrated skills, knowledge and ability to operate multiple pieces of industry related equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Good knowledge of the names and locations of City streets.
• Physical ability to perform medium to heavy category work.
• Clear Driver’s Abstract required.
