POSITION SUMMARY
The GBV Coordinator will lead the development, coordination, and delivery of a comprehensive, culturally grounded Gender-Based Violence prevention and response initiative across the Mushkegowuk Region. This position will focus on community engagement, education, prevention, and support services that address the root causes of GBV, empower survivors, and strengthen community capacity to respond to violence.
REQUIREMENTS
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Gender Studies, or a related field.Minimum 3 years’ experience in program coordination, preferably in GBV prevention, victim services, or community engagement.Experience working in Indigenous communities, with a strong understanding of historical and ongoing colonial impacts.
In-depth understanding of GBV issues, prevention strategies, and support services.Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and survivor-centered approaches.Strong facilitation, public speaking, and community engagement skills.Ability to build trust and relationships across diverse community stakeholders.Proficiency in data collection, program evaluation, and report writing.Competence in using technology and social media for outreach and engagement.
Ability to travel within the Mushkegowuk Territory.Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.A satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
