POSITION SUMMARY
The Geographic Information System (GIS) Data Analyst II will lead, conduct and participate in analytic research and analysis to support Mushkegowuk's business needs for high quality information and methodological support that enable evidence-based decision making. Through the development of collaborative relationships with Mushkegowuk Council departments the GIS Analyst will provide analysis, modelling, map production, data management, data loading & transformation and other support services.
REQUIREMENTS
- College Diploma or University Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Studies, or related field
- Advanced knowledge of ESRI GIS tools and utilities for data creation, maintenance, and conversion
- Knowledge of ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabase environments and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Be able to provide a wide-range of GIS support including geo-spatial analysis, cartography, gee-database and GIS application management;
- Provide research and analytical support, including needs assessment, analysis and syntheses of research material, and the design,_ production and delivery of end products;
- Conduct background research and recommendations on analytical methodology, indicators and statistical applications;
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail
- Strong communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with a diversity of people
- Ability to speak Cree is an asset
- A strong desire to develop a working knowledge of issues affecting First Nations
- Knowledge of the culture of First Nations, along with an understanding of their aspirations, -socio-economic needs, stewardship values, and history
- Have a valid (class G) Ontario driver's licence
