Professor, Nursing (26-09-RFH-158)

Reporting to the Dean, Health and Veterinary Sciences, the Professor, Nursing will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses. The Professor should embody a commitment to student success and professional development and demonstrate capacity for leadership in a multi-cultural organization. In addition, the Professor must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

What you will need to be considered:

  • Master's degree in Nursing (if in progress, must be completed by August 14, 2026). A PhD in Nursing or a related/relevant field of study is preferred;
  • Minimum 3 years of current/recent experience (within the last five years) with the provision of direct patient care in a nursing or healthcare-related field. Experience in an acute care setting is preferred;
  • Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO);
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification;
  • Evidence of Professional Liability Protection is required;
  • Ability to provide proof of required immunizations;
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Knowledge or experience with CASN/CNO accreditation processes is preferred;
  • Certifications/training/professional development with simulation in a teaching environment is preferred;
  • Experience in Nursing/Science/Healthcare-related research/scholarship is preferred; and
  • Teaching experience using a variety of modes of delivery (video, web-based, etc.) and methodologies is preferred.

The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable and approachable team member with a commitment to excellence in Health Sciences education and student success, and will play a role in supporting ongoing research and scholarship.
